the Megaline Range of Super Wide Grass Machinery Posted: 1 February 2002 Farmec Ireland Ltd. is delighted to introduce the Fella 'Megaline' range of high capacity disc mowers, tedders and swathers to the Irish market. The 'Megaline' is a family of products developed for large-scale farmers and contractors. Fella, a member of the NETAGCO group, has eight decades of experience manufacturing disc mowers, drum mowers, swathers and tedders. The Fella company is based in Germany and Farmec Ireland Ltd distributes its products in Ireland. The Fella SM 1100 Trans Megacut is the biggest disc mower in the world! When used in conjunction with a front mounted mower, the SM1100 will deliver a massive 10.34 metre width of cut. The unit consists of two semi-mounted disc mowers with outer wheel support supported by two arms that fold out for operation and inwards for transport. This arrangement has a low pulling point for stability and evenly spreads its weight over the two mower units. The transport width of the unit is three metres and the length behind the tractor is 7.5 metres approximately. Also in the Fella Megaline range is the TH 1300 Turbo tedder and the TS 4000 Hydro swather. The TH 1300 hay tedder with 10 rotors has a working width of almost 13 metres! This means that Fella now has a range of tedders with widths from 4.3 up to 13 metres to suit almost all requirements. In fact, Farmec Ireland Ltd. advises that the 5.4 and 6.8 metre models are their biggest sellers in Ireland. The TS 4000 Hydro Swather is ideal for use with high capacity forage harvesters and for allowing big square balers or choppers reach their maximum capacity. The machine features a patented system that allows the working width to be adjusted from 10.6 metres up to 12.5 metres. The TS 4000 is mounted onto a central undercarriage that increases stability and increases mobility. The machine has a safe compact transport width of 3 metres. The 'Megaline' range is not suited to everybody and to this end Fella also manufactures more modest sized mowers, tedders and swathers. In particular, the new SM310 KC Trans is a high capacity disc mower delivering a 3-metre width of cut. A tine conditioner can be fitted for optimum conditioning and swath building. This mower is also available as a drum mower and either variant can be used in combination with a front mounted mower to increase productivity. One of the key features of the Fella SM310KC Trans is the transport width of just 2 metres. "One of the biggest headache for Irish customers is transporting machinery on our narrow road network", said Garry Daly, Farmecs Sales Director, "Fella have developed a system where the mower hydraulically retracts in line behind the tractor and is supported by the outer wheel for transport. The transport position of this mower resembles that of a large plough."
